From design to the workshop: a shared data flow with SOLIDWORKS and Eggle ERP
Design, planning and purchasing may each keep a separate spreadsheet. When quantities disagree, the team has to reconstruct which copy is approved. An ERP connection helps only if ownership of the information is clear.
Give each system a role
SOLIDWORKS remains the source for design geometry and reviewed design information. Eggle ERP organizes the receiving product data and the operational workflows your company has actually configured. Purchasing notes should not be hidden inside part names just to move them between systems.
Agree on four decisions
- Which product code identifies the receiving product?
- Who may send and who approves the received list?
- Which sections are replaced when a list is sent again?
- When may planning and production use the new data?
Reduce retyping, not accountability
The designer sends the reviewed detail list. Planning checks the received product and confirms its use. Purchasing works from the approved information according to the company's established workflow. The connection itself does not automatically approve changes, place orders or configure production modules.
Excel can remain a useful export, but avoid editing several competing copies. Start with one product range and measure repeated entry, clarification requests and handover time. See the Eggle connection guide for setup and the design-change guide for revisions.
